"Ms. Clairol," as I was known amongst my high school friends for my stylish ways and love of fashion, was born in Washington, D.C. After graduating from Notre Dame Academy H.S. I wanted to become a professional model but lost the argument with my mother and was made to attend Bennett College, Greensboro, N.C. It was upon graduation with Bachelor of Science in hand, that my mother purchased my round-trip ticket to Paris!
I attended the Paris American Academy where I studied fashion design, before pursuing a modeling career. I did runway work in Paris and New York.
Later I met and married a Paris photographer, Laurent Macarie. We soon moved to Washington with our young son and a daughter followed. We opted to homeschool and did so until son entered high school and daughter middle school.
Upon their entering into public school, I re-entered fashion world by way of fashion retail for Lord & Taylor. Subsequently I interviewed and won Personal Fashion Advisor position. I inaugurated the position and continued in it for 14 years. I progressed to luxury retail for Neiman Marcus. After a few years, I endeavored to begin a fashion/style business with an inner beauty component, eponymously named, VAILESTYLE, LLC. I continue to evolve the business today.
